On August 22, we sent a message to members sharing AMIA’s position based on the advice of legal counsel and leadership. Since then, the labor union representing hotel workers within the properties of major chains including Hilton, Marriott, and Hyatt did not reach an agreement and are now on strike through the end of today. It is our understanding that UNITE HERE has continued their outreach to AMA members and staff advocating their position.
What’s Next?
- The AMIA Meetings team is actively following the situation. The hotel has a contingency plan in place. At this time, there is no cause for concern.
- AMIA recommends not engaging with UNITE HERE as the situation is an active contractual negotiation between the labor union and hotels.
