AMIA Clinical Informatics Fellowship Match Lifecyle

Application Submission and Review

  • Register for ERAS in April
    • ERAS is the system used to collect application materials from applicants and provide them to programs. It generally opens in June for uploading materials.
  • Submit application starting early June.
    • Contents include: CV, transcript, MSPE, personal statement, USMLE/COMLEX, letters (3-4 including PD/chair/boss), photo, ECFMG (if applicable), and visa info (if applicable).
  • Apply to accredited CI fellowships in July.

Interviews

Programs offer remote interviews throughout summer and fall.

AMIA Match

Hosted on AMIA's webpage and included as part of AMIA Academic Forum membership.

Program

  • Join AMIA – Academic Forum membership is required to participate.
  • Confirm participation in October.
  • Verify information in mid-November.
  • Enter and commit rank list in early December.
  • View program match results online mid-December

Applicant

  • Join AMIA – AMIA membership is required to participate.*
  • Register in early November.
  • Enter and commit rank list in late November.
  • View match results online in mid-December

*All fellowship applicants may request student membership, regardless of their current position.

Post-Match Offer Process

For applicants who do not match with a program:

  • Confirm participation with AMIA Match committee in mid-December. Review programs with available slots, contact PD, and submit ERAS application by early January.
  • Schedule interviews to take place in December and early January. Review offer(s) and accept position by mid-January.
  • Look for Match and PMOP results on AMIA.org in mid-January.
