AMIA Updates the Public Policy Principles

The AMIA Public Policy Committee (PPC) took on a nine-month endeavor to future-proof the AMIA Public Policy Principles through 2029. This is a living document that may be edited/updated as needed. PPC uses these principles regularly to assess how to respond to federal opportunities, including regulatory comment opportunities. AMIA identified nine pillars as core to Health Informatics Policy:

  1. Patient Empowerment
  2. Health IT Safety
  3. Workforce and Education
  4. Data Sharing in Research
  5. HIT Data Standards & Interoperability
  6. Biomedical Informatics-Driven Quality Measurement
  7. Health Data Privacy
  8. Population & Public Health
  9. AI Principles for Healthcare
