WASHINGTON, DC – The American Medical Informatics Association (AMIA) announced the 2024 class of 84 Fellows of AMIA (FAMIA) in the FAMIA Applied Informatics Recognition Program. They were selected by a committee of 38 reviewers and will join a community of 526 current FAMIA inductees.
FAMIA recognizes AMIA member professionals who apply informatics skills and knowledge towards the goals of enhanced personal and population health, improved organizational performance and learning, and individual empowerment in healthcare. Fellows apply informatics skills and knowledge within their professional setting, demonstrate professional achievement and leadership, and contribute to the betterment of AMIA.
“Applied clinical informatics improves healthcare systems and healthcare delivery. We are thrilled to recognize a sixth cohort of FAMIA inductees who demonstrate sustained accomplishments, impactful leadership, and continued dedication to the promise and possibilities of using informatics to improve human health,” said Gretchen Purcell Jackson, MD, PhD, FACS, FACMI, FAMIA, AMIA Board Chair and President, Vice President and Scientific Medical Officer, Intuitive Surgical and Associate Professor of Surgery, Pediatrics, and Biomedical Informatics, Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
A formal induction ceremony will be held at the AMIA 2024 Clinical Informatics Conference May 22-23 in Minneapolis.
