Historic ACMI Biography
Dr. Biondich is a global leader in creating electronic medical records for the developing world. He led a series of projects that justified and then created the technical underpinnings that serve as an operational basis for national-scale electronic patient record keeping practices within dozens of emerging economies throughout the world. To do so, he established and led OpenMRS and OpenHIE, open-source communities that are critically important international ecosystems for collaboration between academic informatics and the global health development community. He has also contributed significantly to advancing the field of clinical decision support by developing CHICA, a system for capturing patient data during visits and generating real-time decision support, streamlining the process of making executable (and computable) real-time clinical guidelines.
