Dakota State University’s 33 credit hour, online, CAHIIM accredited Master of Science in Health Informatics & Information Management (MSHIIM) program may be completed in 24 months on a part time basis. The program prepares professionals from all disciplines to lead and govern Health IT systems using project management principles, to apply data analytics for research projects, and to immediately apply learning through completion of a capstone project. Graduates are eligible to take AMIA’s AHIC certification exam (with experience that meets eligibility requirements), HIMSS CAHIMS and CPHIMS certification exams (with experience that meets eligibility requirements), or AHIMA’s Registered Health Information Administration (RHIA) certification exam (after completing additional courses to learn to properly code diagnosis and procedures). DSU is one of two universities in the United States to offer online CAHIIM accredited associate, bachelors, and master’s degrees in Health Informatics & Information Management (accredited under HIM programs). Students can complete a 12-credit online graduate certificate in health data analytics concurrently to prepare for AHIMA’s Certified Health Data Analyst (CHDA) certification exam.
