Public Biography
I am a Research Professor in Biomedical Informatics of the College of Health Solutions at Arizona State University. Before I joined ASU, I was a Distinguished Research Staff Member at IBM Research, with 25+ years of research and technical leadership experience. I was a PI on the IBM Watson Health initiative, leading the team that collaborated with several multi-specialty hospitals on the patient records analysis project, utilizing Natural Language Processing and Machine Learning to analyze free text clinical notes. I received Ph.D. in computer science from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. A Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and a Distinguished Member of the Association of Computing Machinery, I am a prolific author and innovator with many papers in peer-reviewed journals and conferences, and over 50 patents.
