Historic ACMI Biography
Since 2001, Dr. Bowles has directed an innovative program of NIH-funded informatics research which uses health information technology (HIT) to improve the care of the elderly at transitions in care. Her first R01 focused on the development and testing of a discharge decision support system to assist clinicians to make discharge decisions; the competitive renewal is a national comparative effectiveness study. Dr. Bowlesí telehealth studies, including R01 NR008923, have advanced the science of HIT in home care. She has published more than 100 peer-reviewed papers and numerous abstracts.
