Historic ACMI Biography
Dr. Zheng is a nationally-recognized scholar who has made significant scientific contributions in software usability, workflow analysis, and user acceptance of health IT. He is an accomplished researcher in biomedical informatics, a devoted educator, and a valued, active, and visible member in the AMIA community. He played an instrumental role in establishing University of Michigan's Master of Health Informatics Program; and directed the program for a year before he joined UC Irvine. At UC Irvine, he directs the Center for Biomedical Informatics, overseeing the research informatics development and operation effort at UC Irvine's Institute for Clinical and Translational Science. His research addresses important topics in interaction design, workflow and sociotechnical integration, and diffusion and evaluation of health IT. He has published over 90 peer-reviewed research articles to date, including 36 papers in JAMIA and AMIA Annual Symposia. His work received several best paper awards; it has been supported by numerous funding agencies (NIH; AHRQ; PCORI; VA; DOD).
