Historic ACMI Biography
Dr. Merrillís earliest applied work in informatics was classification of the national public health workforce, a project that began in 1999 and resulted in Enumeration 2000, the first census in half a century, and the first to use empirical data versus estimates. The report has been cited repeatedly in Congressional testimony. Dr. Merrill has been recognized by the American Academy of Nursing for her interdisciplinary research practice, which integrates skills in nursing, public health, informatics and design; and for her seminal efforts introducing systems science methods to understand informatics problems in public health systems.
