Historic ACMI Biography
An internationally recognized nursing informatician and clinical expert with 25+ years of research and clinical practice leadership, Dr. Alexander guides professional societies, organizations, prestigious journals toward new models of care including technology implementation trends and safety and quality impacts. He leads an AHRQ-funded R01 and two CMS national demonstration projects. Dr. Alexander is an accomplished scientist who has nearly two decades of sustained and rigorous contributions to the field of informatics. He has served on many influential national level committees and boards and is one of the very few nurse informaticians recognized globally for his work in long-term care informatics.

Public Policy Committee
Member
The committee recommends advocacy issues and activities and identifies critical areas for AMIA's strategic advocacy engagement for Board approval. The committee works with AMIA’s policy consultant, staff, and Board to develop annual work plans which support the strategic directions set by the Board. The committee works with the staff in developing and reviewing draft submissions in response to requests for comments in support of AMIA positions and helps prepare position papers on matters of public policy.

The Journals and Publications Committee oversees AMIA’s journals, partner-journals, and publications, including monitoring relations with and the performance of the journals' publishers and editors, developing and reviewing policies on matters that affect the journals.
