Historic ACMI Biography

For 18 years, Dr. Staes has sought to improve population health through applied informatics research with a focus on supporting clinical decision making and improving communication between public health and clinical information systems. Her background as a public health nurse epidemiologist, a pediatric ICU nurse, and a PhD in biomedical informatics give her great insight into the context of the problems she is solving as well as knowledge of the best techniques for having impact. Her passion for her work is infectious, and her work has had broad impact. In the course of her work, she has co-led development of the Reportable Condition Knowledge Management System and has also developed and deployed a system for immunosuppression monitoring following liver transplantation.
