Public Biography
Dr. Anne Turner is a full professor at the University of Washington Department of Health Services and in the Department of Biomedical and Health Informatics. She is Associate Director of the UW Health Promotion Research Center and faculty member at the Northwest Center for Public Health Practice (NWCPHP). Dr. TurnerĂs research focuses on the use of information technology to improve public health practice and address key public health problems. In addition to being a board certified pediatrician, she teaches graduate courses at UW Seattle public health informatics and maternal child health. She is currently chair of the AMIA Academic Forum, a member of the AMIA Public Health Informatics Working Group and a fellow of the American College of Medical Informatics (ACMI).
Historic ACMI Biography
Dr. Turner is a leader in promoting and advancing the field of public health informatics (PHI) with an extensive research, teaching and service record. She developed one of the first PHI courses nationally, has received several research grants, serves in national and international service roles, and mentors numerous trainees.
