Statement of Purpose
Facing the COVID-19 pandemic, healthcare organizations across the world worked expeditiously to prepare for and manage the outbreak. In the modern era, a necessary component of outbreak management is effective utilization of the electronic health record (EHR). Technology-based tools can not only support, but also enhance patient care during a pandemic, most obviously through the use of telemedicine. This article was the first to describe in detail the rapid development and implementation of EHR-based tools designed to specifically support the management of COVID-19 as well as associated challenges.

The target audience for this activity is professionals and students interested in biomedical and health informatics.
Learning Objectives
The general learning objective for all of the JAMIA Journal Club webinars is that participants will
- Use a critical appraisal process to assess article validity and to gauge article findings' relevance to practice
