The mission of this fellowship is to train clinical informaticists to serve community hospital systems. The academic department will include the Kettering Health Network Chief Medical Informatics Officer and the Chief Medical Officer of Soin Medical Center who is board certified in informatics. Another board certified informaticist working in utilization and transformation will oversee rotations for residents. Other informaticists and information technology professionals will teach fellows on rotations. The fellow will take didactics coursework through Oregon Health and Science University's distance program. The fellow will work on projects for Kettering Health Network with the fellowship director. Educational coaching will be provided by the program director to lead the fellow towards independent project management. A team-based approach towards clinical informatics will be instilled.

Program Aims

Master Clinical Informatics Fundamentals by completing the Oregon Health and Science University Health IT Certification over the course of two years. Learn to lead Clinical Decision Making and Process Improvement initiatives within Kettering Health Network by active involvement in network committees. Collaborate with the health information systems department to understand the framework and infrastructure of the department, operations and project management. Learn leadership skills through the KHN Certified Process Excellence Leadership program and network initiatives as well as presenting at conference.
